The Aqua Terra has always been Omega's answer to the question nobody quite asks out loud — what if you need a watch that works with a suit, on a sailboat, and through an MRI? The Caliber 8500 at the heart of this ref is Omega's first fully in-house Co-Axial movement, purpose-built from the ground up with 202 components designed to exploit the Co-Axial escapement's full potential. Twin barrels with DLC-coated mainsprings deliver a 60-hour power reserve, a silicon Si14 balance spring shrugs off magnetic fields greater than 15,000 gauss without needing a Faraday cage, and the whole thing is COSC chronometer certified. Because there's no soft-iron shielding required, Omega gives you a transparent caseback — so you actually get to see the arabesque Geneva waves on one of the best-finished movements in its price class.
What separates this particular reference from the rest of the Aqua Terra lineup is the way it splits the difference between dressy and deliberate.
