About This Reference
In 1970, NASA's astronauts presented Omega with the Silver Snoopy Award in recognition of the Speedmaster's role in bringing the Apollo 13 crew home safely — the highest honour NASA can bestow on a civilian contractor. Fifty years later, Omega released the 310.32.42.50.02.001 as a tribute to that moment, and it has become one of the most sought-after modern Speedmasters in the collection. The solid silver dial with a laser-ablated surface reveals blue "pie-tin" PVD subdials, and an embossed silver Snoopy medallion sits within the small seconds register at 9 o'clock. The caseback is where the piece truly comes alive — a micro-structured metallised depiction of the far side of the moon serves as the backdrop for an animated Snoopy in a command and service module that orbits when the chronograph is engaged, while an Earth disc rotates once per minute in sync with the running seconds. The blue ceramic bezel with its white enamel tachymeter scale — complete with the iconic "dot over 90" — and the blue nylon strap with the Apollo 13 trajectory embossed on its lining round out a watch that honours its history in every detail. Powered by the hand-wound calibre 3861, this is a non-limited production reference.
