Model Background

The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is the original modern dive watch — predating the Submariner to market in 1953 and setting the template that the entire category still follows. The Bathyscaphe line modernized the Fifty Fathoms platform with a sleeker, more contemporary case profile while retaining its 300-meter depth rating and unidirectional bezel. This reference takes it further by packing a complete calendar complication and moonphase into a serious dive-spec titanium case — a combination almost nobody else attempts. The Caliber 6654.P.4 drives a day, date, and month display with a moonphase indicator, all protected by Blancpain's secured setting mechanism that prevents damage from adjusting the calendar while the movement is engaged. The correctors are hidden beneath the lugs, keeping the case flanks clean, and they're tool-free — push them with a fingernail. The sunburst anthracite dial with blackened luminous indices and a red-tipped date hand gives the piece a restrained, technical look that reads more instrument than dress complication. At 43mm in titanium it wears lighter than its size suggests, and at 300 meters water resistance it's one of the only calendar moonphase watches you can actually take in the water.
