The Dark Side of the Moon line exists because Omega asked a question nobody else was asking: what happens when you build a Moonwatch entirely out of ceramic? The answer is a 44.25mm chronograph that weighs 104 grams on its leather strap — roughly what a steel Aqua Terra 41mm weighs on rubber. The entire case is zirconium oxide ceramic, not just the bezel, which means it's scratch-resistant in a way that no steel or gold watch can match, hypoallergenic, chemically inert, and approximately half the density of stainless steel. That weight reduction is what makes a 44.25mm chronograph with 16mm of thickness actually wearable as a daily piece rather than a weekend showpiece. The "Sedna Black" variant layers 18K Sedna gold — Omega's proprietary rose gold alloy, named after one of the most distant objects in the solar system — onto the bezel ring, applied indexes, and Moonwatch-style hands, and the warmth of that gold against the matte black ceramic is a material contrast that hits differently than any steel-and-gold combination. The matt grey dial carries its markings via laser ablation rather than printing, giving the surface a texture that reads almost lunar under magnification.
The Cal. 9300 is the movement that launched Omega's in-house chronograph program — column-wheel controlled, vertical clutch, Co-Axial escapement, 60-hour reserve from dual barrels — and its signature design decision is the single subdial at 3 o'clock that combines the 12-hour and 60-minute chronograph recorders into one display, keeping the dial cleaner than a traditional three-register layout. Small seconds lives at 9 o'clock, date at 6, and the central chronograph hand sweeps the tachymeter scale on the Sedna gold bezel ring where the markings are rendered in matt chromium nitride. The exhibition caseback, engraved "Dark Side of the Moon" around its circumference, puts the entire column-wheel architecture on display through sapphire — and the fact that Omega engineered a transparent caseback into a ceramic case at 50 meters of water resistance is a technical detail that's easy to overlook and hard to replicate.
