This is the Aqua Terra that dresses up without changing clothes. Every other AT in the 231.xx generation runs applied metal indexes — silver, rhodium, blackened — and they all look like sport-luxury watches because that's what they are. This reference replaces those indexes with eleven Top Wesselton white diamonds graded VVS, and the entire character of the dial shifts. The white teak-patterned face becomes a stage for the stones, catching and scattering light in a way that metal markers physically cannot, and the result is an Aqua Terra that belongs at a formal dinner as naturally as it belongs on a sailboat. You get the same 150m water resistance, the same screw-down crown, the same brushed-and-polished case construction — every gram of Seamaster utility — wrapped in a dial that reads like fine jewelry.
The 38.5mm case is the other reason this reference stands out. It sits in a size sweet spot that the current 220.xx generation abandoned entirely, landing right between the modern 38mm and 41mm options with a compact 45.5mm lug-to-lug that hugs wrists from 6.25" to 7.5" with equal confidence. The Cal. 8500 visible through the exhibition back is the movement that launched Omega's in-house era — Co-Axial escapement, silicon balance spring, 60-hour reserve, dual barrels — and the first-generation case design it sits in, with its framed date window at 3 o'clock and beveled polished bezel edges, carries a finishing language that many collectors consider more refined than its successor.
