The Portugieser Chronograph has been one of IWC's most recognizable models for decades, and the 3716 generation brought the upgrade the line had been waiting for — a fully in-house movement. The Caliber 69355 features a column-wheel chronograph, hacking seconds, and a 46-hour power reserve, all visible through a sapphire exhibition caseback that the previous generation never offered. The blue dial on this reference is where it separates itself — a rich, saturated blue that plays between deep navy and bright cobalt depending on the light, paired with rhodium-plated feuille hands and Arabic numeral appliqués that contrast cleanly against the color. The vertically stacked subdials at 6 and 12 o'clock and the railroad-track quarter-second scale on the rehaut carry the same instrument-watch DNA that's defined the Portugieser since its origins in the 1930s. At 41mm and 13mm thick, the case maintains the dressy proportions the collection is known for, and the black alligator strap with butterfly folding clasp keeps the overall look sharp and versatile. This is the Portugieser Chrono that works equally well with a suit and an untucked shirt.
